Older Newb

I joined this forum in January but didn't have anything to say until now. Finally got all 4 wheels off the ground last week. Not 'big' air but exciting for me. I rode dirtbikes a lot when I was a kid. We had 100 acres of coal pits for a playground. Now playing there with a 700xx. The only significant mod is the L8ton 11/16 swaybar. Since this is the only ATV I've ever had I didn't know what I was missing and wanted to see what all the hype was about with the swaybar. Now I know - way cool! I can drift forever and gas it in the turns to get the rear end around.
This 700xx is almost more horse than I can handle, but I just love it!
Now I'm in the market for new tires. Seems to be a lot of threads on that subject so I'll read up on it before asking any questions.

Welcome to the club! Nice picture of your hang time! Do you have any pictures of that rear rack? As far as tires go, are your rims still in good shape? More options on rear tires if you get a 10" wheel. But the Kenda Kutter's are a great oem size rear tire, for under $100.00 each. I'm close to needing my 3rd set, I all ready have a set of 10" Douglas .190's for the rear. I'm leaning towards the GBC XC-Master 22x11x10's, And anyone else thinking about this brand tires, if you know somebody with a costco card, there dirt cheap there. $67.00 for the size I mentioned...! OEM size fronts for $45.00!!! 22x7x10's for $43.00!!

edit: you don't need the card to shop there, they just add 5% I think to total...

hobbit,
Glad you have started posting. As you have found, this forum is a wonderful place to browse. Many questions have been addressed and much has been said about the 700XX. Enjoy your machine and ask away.

One thing I forgot, the absolute first thing I did was drop to a 13 tooth front sprocket. Trying to poke around my yard (4 acres) I kept stalling so had to drop a tooth. Not enough room to need 4th or 5th gear anyway. When I'm out at my folks place I've managed to get to 5th just to make sure it's there -- seems to be skimming over the high spots and barely touching the ground at all.
Thanks for the pointers on tires, M_Quick. Those prices are much better than what I've been seeing anywhere else.
The rear rack is a Quadboss rack and rackmount kit with a Cabelas backrest on it. That's so my wife can ride behind me without falling off. We rarely ride double but it's one of those things I had to do to keep her happy. She's not comfortable yet riding her Yamaha 125 Grizzly by herself.

I've seen those racks before, just looked different on your 1st picture. Backrest idea is cool, if that's what it takes to get your wife to ride along. I double my kids on mine sometime's but really don't like it. Right now there to small to ride on the back, so they ride up front. Those little Grizzly's are nice, my little cousin rides one sometimes. She also has a dirtbike and a 90cc predator she rides, poor kid lol.
