oil cooler fan??

Hey how does the fan work on the 700? I have had my XX pretty hot and i havent ever noticed the fan com on yet, does it still run with the bike off but with the key turned to the on position? i know that i have had her hot enough 2 turn on, i just am starting 2 think that it might not be hooked up or maybe there was a cut wire or something?

It's a radiator fan for the engine coolant, not an oil cooler. It should come on when the coolant temp reaches its preset spot. When I ride if the outside temp is over 85 the fan cycles on and off a lot if I'm in the woods with the technical stuff going slow. If I have some space to open it up and get some air flow into the air scoops, it doesn't come on as much. If the fan is on and you turn the key to the off position it'll go off. But if you turn it back on and not start the engine it'll come back on until it cools down enough to get below the set temp.

Make sure the kill switch is in the middle, as if you're going to start your bike, then turn the key. The 4 lights up top should light up and if the bike is hot, the fan will run even if the engine is not started
