The Great Synthetic Debate

Well guys and gals. The new riding season is upon us and oil change time is here yet again. I'm always wondering if I should run synthetic or not and can't find a definitive answer in the previous billion posts. So my question is. Should I run synthetic in the ol girl or not. I usually run mobil 1 mx4t synthetic 10w40 but have considered changing to good old fashioned honda gn4 10w40. What does everyone think? Ive never had a problem running synthetic in anything i own! But these wet clutch systems are pretty sensitive imo. Fellow 700xxers please chime in.

Was using the Mobile 1, switched to this stuff. No clutch issues, but lost top end!

I run Rotella T and T6 in my 400ex and Outlaw. No problems here. It's good oil that is also affordable enough to allow me to change it often, something that the Outlaw requires.

Currently: 400ex, Lexx MXe, K&N w/outerwears
Outlaw 525 IRS

I have been running the Honda HP4S synthetic oil in mine for quite some time now, with no problems. Just be sure it is the red bottle, not the grey bottle since the grey bottle has moly in it, which will fry a wet clutch. To elaborate, I had a shift fork bend from a stick hitting my shifter so the engine was completely torn down. The guy working on it said everything looked almost new, in an engine with easily 500 hours on it.

I used lucas oil one time and beleive it caused clutch issues. As well I have tried Rotella t6 synthetic and thought it was causing clutch slippage as well. Never had problems with mobil 1 tho

I pretty much content with Mobil 1. What is important is that you replace your oil and filter religiously and surely you will be safe.
