High temperature electronic issue

I'm having a doozer with this one.

Two rides ago on the way back the high temperature indicator started coming on and killing the power.

Once I was home I let it idle, set up a couple thermocouples and watched as the cooling system did its thing. Thermostat opened fine and then over time as soon as the rad heated the fan came on as it was supposed to...

Went out for another ride and very shortly after it did the same thing. On the way back (stashed trx and took renegade) it did the same thing starting from cold.

Now the etc works as is should and the resistances were bang on. Pulled the 33p harness apart and checked all the usuals. The one think that stands out and the manual I have is unclear is there is continuity from the etc plug to the ecm 2.5 mega ohms if I remember.

I don't want to replace the ecm if I don't have to however everything else checks out. I know an open circuit would cause it to behave like that but everything seems pretty tight

Your post kinda leads me to the conclusion that your 700xx is doing just what it should and is fine. (Key is red highlighted above)
