Radiator fan

When is the radiator fan supposed to start running? Does it start when the key is turned over? Or only at certain temps? How can I check to be sure the fan is working properly?

Key must be on and at temp. Mine usually turns on after idling for a little while (5-10 minutes I think).

My fan seldom if ever runs while riding. Idk exact temp but if your lights not on and it's not boiling over into the over flow, your over thinking it imo.

It usually doesn't kick on until after you have let it idle for a Great length of time or after having ridden it for a while. The fan is there too help the cooling during normal operating temps. By normal I don't mean just putting around. This is why it is liquid cooled in the first place.

I agree with M_Quick, you may be overthinking it.

Where you come from is gone. Where you thought you were going to weren't never there, and where you’re at ain't no good unless you can get away from it!

Thanks for the replies. I hope I am over thinking it. I just have not noticed the fan kick on and don't want to overheat the engine and cause damage. On my other atv, grizzly 700 eps, the fan kicks on fairly quickly after idling or riding.

If parked and at a idle, I'd say it should come on in 15 to 20 mins. But why wait that long. Just warm it up a min, ride the hell out of it for 30 mins. Or so. Shut it down, then turn key on but don't start quad. You should hear fan running then.
