Air cleaner drain tube

What is the air cleaner drain tube used for? Just to let water out? Or get more air to the engine? Part # 17224-HM8-B40

It's a capped tube, so no air can get past it, or water out. You have to unhook it to let the water out.

I removed mine completely. Kinda of a double edge sword in this one but when you can fill the airbox with the bung in , it needs to drain out somehow. Also when running in deep water without the bung, it sucks water in from the drain tube.

Now I just use abit of skidplate foam in it's place.

I took mine out as well. I haven't noticed anymore trail gunk collecting in it than before. I do however have less muddy water in it after a wet trail ride.

My air box gets dusty but never wet or muddy. Gotta love the EHS lids.
