rolles over hard

put new hot cam in now it acts as if the decompressor in not working .

very little is said in the shop manual about the decompressor. what could be the problem ?

751 ,barker pipe,290 Web cam,+3 stroker,TB bored to 46.8 and moved back from head 1 inch,+3 big bore , +1 intake valves, Hard Welded Rockers,KW springs, ported, clutch mod , air box removed ,Cat oil mod, dynojet commander V w/auto tune , lowered rear end , TRX450R front shocks ,

No but it's a wide spread problem it seams with the stage3. While some say they don't have any issues. I think someone posted up awhile back, mentioning to put quad in gear, and rock it back and forth. Then pull in clutch and hit starter.

i'm thinking the lobe of the cam is greater than the lobe of the decompressor. I will be making some phone calls . maybe even Ron knows the best fix

I killed 2 lithium batteries on mine. Some say higher cranking amp batteries help. But I was told by a battery guy that CCA are just that. To help in cold weather only.

I can understand that it could kill a starter but a battery ?

made a call to hotcams the response was that they had never heard of any problems with the Stage 3

found the answer to the problem .
when I replaced the cam there is a need to adjust the valve lash , da . the decompressor on the Honda forces the right side exhaust valve open just enough to reduce the compression pressure in the cylinder . if the valve lash is greater than it should be then the decompressor lobe can not touch to open the valve . I had set the lash to the recommended spec's ,.008 + -1 .001 ,hence my confusion as to why there was a problem. when I had gotten the valve lash down to .005 (.127mm) the problem went away.
