I just bought my first 700xx from a young kid who rode it hard and put it up wet. When I got it home I did oil & filter, new plug, front brakes, and new UNI air filter. The old plug had copious carbon deposits but nothing I haven't seen before. I decided that since I didn't know the condition or type of fuel in the tank I'd add 2-3oz of Lucas Injector Cleaner to the existing fuel then top it off with 100% 91-octane fresh fuel.
I get it to Rednecks with Paychecks, take it out for a few hours, and when the engine is nice and warm the throttle hesitation begins. I was following my girlfriend on my '96 Fourtrax 4x4 so we weren't going fast on the trials, mostly first gear. The few times I'd be able to pin the throttle, when the engine was warm, it would hesitate. If I didn't let off the throttle and kept it pinned, it would stall. I felt it was the Lucas because I took it out right after I got it, before the tune-up, and it never hesitated.
I'm thinking to keep diluting the Lucas in the tank with fresh 100% gas until my 5-gal. gas can is empty, if that doesn't work run 5-gal. of 98-octane, and if that still doesn't work run a plug that is 1-degree hotter. What are y'alls thoughts?
