Lost Torque / slipping

Ok I did something I'm just trying to figure out what. I have an 08 that I've mostly taken care of for years, light to moderate useage. Until this weekend. I was running it pretty hard dragging stuff around a buddies house driving a lot in first gear with weight dragging behind me. After an hour or so of abuse the over temp light came on so I gave it a break. I got back on and noticed it lacked the power to pull any more. Engine ran fine it just wasn't getting the torque to the wheels. Dropped the weight and it was ok but less snappy than normal and after just 15 min I had barely any power to the wheels.

What happened? Did I just burn out the clutch plates when I over heated or should I be looking elsewhere. I strongly suspect I did damage using it as a mule for the day as these aren't UTVs and not to be teeated this way. The clutch plates look fairly easy to replace if that's the problem but I want to make sure that's the likely cause before I go in there. Plus I want to know if I should be on the lookout for other issues while at it.

oh it does sound like you toasted the clutch . easy fix . good time to do a clutch mod , ditch the jutter spring and the first ring that go's in the basket with one more of the other fiber disks . you may of warped some of the steels so check for that to. and by all means get stiffer springs

That's what I'm thinking. I found a few stack kits for the clutch do you have one you recommend? Can you share a link?

Also I hear mixed advice about wether or not you need to replace the cover gasket. Some say to always replace it but I'm thinking it's only needed if it rips/sticks as you pry the cover off. Thoughts?

I don't have a problem with Honda clutch plates . the springs are how ever to light . heavy duty springs are a must have .

as for the gasket , the one under the cover is a o ring , if its not leaking reuse it
