motors out and split

found some ware on the center shift fork . ordered a new one . still have not found a good reason for it jumping a gear, 3 to 5 . cylinder looks like new but there is some ware on the center cam lobe as well the rocker . it will go off the web for resurfacing

yes i did take some pic's ,and so should you because there are some things you may think you will remember how things came apart but things get forgotten . also the service books leave out some things like on the cam there is a sealed bearing . book don't show it nor does it say why.
i suggest you send the valve rockers out to get hardened. webcam can do it for you.

get some cardboard and draw a rough outline of the cases then punch holes approximately were the screws are , when you take a screw out of the motor put it in the hole of the cardboard.

i used a welder to build up the worn spot on the shifter shaft .t hen ground it . the part it about $70

what i am wondering is the weld harder then it was before

center rocker went back to webcam for a bit of resurfacing. new rings came and were installed .cylinder and head is on but not torqued down , i might just put he engine back into the frame then install the top end components when they come to me .
there is a oil mod I'm thinking of doing . it will put more oil directly onto the cam lobes and I'm considering plugging the hole that's in the end of the cam shaft ,
