XX has high rpm stutter.

I bought a 2008 700xx with big gun exhaust and fmf programmer. It's seems like it doesn't have a lot of power in 5th gear. Also it will stutter if cruising at a higher rpm but it recovers quickly. I checked air filter it is clean and I removed the lid which helped with some of the low power problem. My main concern is the stutter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure the cause or how bad your stutter is, but I'd be more concerned about the lack of power in 5th gear! 5th should run around 40 to around 80 mph. Depending on how hard you Rev 4th gear out. I'm usually in 5th around 45mph. Sounds like time to look at the top end to me.

I'm only getting 65 in 5th. Hopefully it's just going to be a valve adjustment

Either your a large rider, or you have something seriously wrong. I'm 225 without gear, and I can hit 78 easy on my original 700xx the other one almost 85mph. Valves may be a good starting spot. Is quad noisy, or hard to start? If answer is no to both those questions, then my guess the problem is elsewhere. Does quad smoke, or have heavy oil residue in the end of the exhaust pipe?

Are you running the factory sprockets, or something crazy like a 12t front and 40t rear?

I'm curious as to if the programmer is way out of wack or just bad. I've never messed with one so I'm not sure what it's doing.

If some one could help me with where I should be at with my programmer and how to adjust it that would be great. It's an fmf.

I am at the same point with my dynojet fuel controller. Check the FMF website to see if they have any pre made maps that are close to the mods on your atv.
