is it 4 inch ?

Hello,
inside, the attack is 100 mm
out, at least 105-106
so I'll need to adapt a little,
simply inserting a tube inside, 100 mm diameter, into the bmc filter,
and inserting it, too, into the hole of the airbox,
when I receive it, I will post a photo,
after installation

I'm curious as to why you just didn't go with a k&n filter? I like the uni filter for ease of cleaning. Also herd they trap more dirt/dust.

Hello,
K&n It has a smaller surface area, filtration,
this is open below,
offering less resistance, air
Perhaps even K & n was sufficient,
but I found this, for 33 euros,
and also design, I like it a lot.

Then, honestly, K & n,
I do not really like the wrap talk

there is some thing about that kind of filter that bothers me . if you hold it up to a light then look into the inside you can see little points of light . you cant tell me dirt is to big to get through them holes.

there are filter test on the web that shows there are better filters to choose from . my self I like paper filters and foam filters ,in that order. I use one on my LTZ that I made .

I plan on making on for the XX , just have yet to take the time to do it

Hello,
Unfortunately, yes,
I noticed on another K & n filter
holes, if I place the filter, against the light,
and they are holes, unacceptable,
too big.
In reality they are not holes,
it is the space that remains in the intertwining of the cotton threads.
I hope this BMC,
it will be a little different,
in the case, it's like K & n
I will use with a prefilter
without any doubt

#9 ·
BY the way, them little spaces ……..are holes

#11 ·
yep ……. holes

perhaps you could do a web search on filter test

#12 ·
Hello,
I watched filter tests,
considering
that K & n
allows passage,
much more air,
the dirt is only slightly higher, acceptable,
then the speech is always that,
where you drive,
and if you give more importance to air,
or by filtration,
here, in Italy, in this area,
there is no desert,
so no drifting on the sand,
so, perhaps, this type of filter do not do damage.
Next step,
it will be, cooling, of the filter box

#13 ·
''will be, cooling, of the filter box ''

what ?and why ?

#14 ·
Cold air intake, maybe a supercharger is in the works?

#16 ·
Hello,
air flow,
greater
definitely helps, (in these engines with electronic injection, while in carburetors,
you need new setup of fuel)
but also temperature, helps ( always in electronic injection only )
I'll install the filter tomorrow
arrived today,
and next few months, I will install
the system for cooling,
(must arrive from China)
Yes, I have already thought to do a precise test,
same day,
with a temperature measurer, inside airbox,
cooling off and then on

#17 ·
how much extra power do you believe you are going to get ?

#18 ·
I think, main gain,
it is in response motor, in torque,
power, it's a little more,
but surely, there will be an improvement, in the whole rpm range,
in all speeds.
The obstacle will be the original muffler,
too closed.
By increasing air, lowering temperature,
also more fuel is injected,
and so I'll have to find a good muffler,
otherwise I'll remove,
the spark arrestor,
which already opens a little

#19 ·
It will take more than a filter to inject any more fuel.

Hello,
it depends on what one wants to get,
it's 100% sure,
more fuel will be injected,
because these bolides,
have electronic injection,
especially for a question of emissions,
if little air enters,
combustion is not good, many emissions
and then injection, send less fuel,
proportionate to the air (stoichiometric ratio)
As mentioned above, it is only a small improvement,
of course I know that it will not become an atv dragstar,
but I'm sure improvement is obvious

I know of intakes being packed with dry ice, and it does work , not to practical on a quad, tho it could be done . to get more power get a better camshaft . you could also move the throttle body back ,away, from the head . move it one inch and you will pick up some TQ.

Lol, so you think if you add a full exhaust, port & polished head, larger piston etc, the bike will just know how much fuel to send? Or it auto adjusts if you remove the air box lid? If that were the case, fuel injection wouldn't need after market fuel controlers or dyno tuned.

Hello,
you're right,
but,
It depends.
If I change the exhaust,
I know, it's mandatory,
an injection modifier,
or even if I change the cylinder, piston,
of course,
in this there are no doubts.
But if currently, I am original,
already with an open filter,
I've obtained,
an improvement, evident.
Now, even with third gear, the quad goes up, with anterior.
I am already happy enough.
The silencer, however,
heat up too much, the filter,
and I ask you, experts,
changing silencer,
Does it heat less, or is it the same?
Thank you

Are you not running a pre filter over that filter? With the opening in the air box lid, lots of dirt will get in. At least if your terrain is similar to mine. Looks like you got it to fit the intake well. And I like the hole in the lid, but I might of went larger.

Never mind I see now in 2nd picture how it will filter all air, nice job!

Is that a paper filter?

Yes,
is a paper filter, spare part, replacement, of various engines
of the VW group,
which roughly coincides with our airbox measurements,
but I'm still not sure,
that will enter.
it's also cheap,
we talk 10-15 euros, price,
and is sold under different brands of spare parts.
When it is here, and installed,
I'll put a picture

change filter,
influence performance, engine,
in different ways,
this does not mean,
paper is better, or worse,
paper filter,
it's more closed, dirty, zero,
and lesser air,
this makes carburetion,
fat,
and engine temperature, lower,
but this is good only in summer,
in winter,
better filter, sponge,
but I'm still experimenting
