Just bought stage one performance package from sparks and need help

The guy from sparks told me that the power commander was just plug and play. Is this true? Or do I need to get a better map to make it run better? Also if I have the air box lid for EHS and running the sparks air filters that came with the packages will I have to get a different map?

What power commander did you get? Either way, assuming you have a lap top d/load the PC s/ware. Then install the PC and hook it up to a laptop and pull the map. Save map somewhere, and while hooked up view the map to see if it is in fact a custom map. Most of the times the fuel controllers just come tuned for a stock bike, not one with a full exhaust and intake modified.

I got the one that comes with the stage one performance package from sparks. The guy at sparks told me that It would come with the latest tune but since I have a EHS lid will I have to get a custom map? If so can you point me in the direction of someone that could do that for me?

A custom tune, means a dyno shop.

I went through this same crap with my 700xx. I just took some time and installed one tune at a time and then rode the machine in an area with both high speed runs and some slow tight trail. I choose the map that seemed the best to me for good acceleration and not stalling the engine at lower speeds. EHS would probably be the best for tuning but you must buy the tuner that EHS sells in order for them to tune your 700. That will cost you $400 + for the EHS tuner and for EHS to tune your atv plus driving to Rockingham NC.

Okay I just went to sparks web site. They do have a custom map, that is made for the lid to be removed. The map is available to d/load, so I wonder if you have to d/load and install it? What gets me after looking at there map, it takes fuel away from the idle from 1000 to 1750 rpms. I'll try and post screen shot later.

Eric (EHS) can work with your power commander, I forget what his dyno time runs, just give him a call and set it up as it can take awhile.
