New 700xx

I bought a used 700 this past weekend that doesn’t smoke and sounds pretty good. Stock pipe with a K&N air filter and fmf programmer/fuel pak or whatever. But it seems to level out about midway threw 4th and 5th. I’ve been playing with the fuel pak and it’s getting better but now great still feels like it’s missing something on top side not bogging or anything. The bike also had been setting up for a couple months prior to me buying it. I turned the hell out of it this past weekend with no problems mechanically and it seemed it got better the more I rode it almost like it had bad gas in it. Any advice on this bike? I’ve owned two trx450’s, two raptor 700’s, a 660, and a 400ex and I’ve worked on every single one of them myself but never touched on of these things. Also any advice on some quick upgrades that will make a big difference. I ordered a pipe and taller gear for it as it seemed to start running out over the weekend.

. Limiters funds. I ordered a 15t sprocket, big gun slip on, and a 12.1 JE piston. Don’t wanna mess with any cams until I can get the valves and springs replaced.

Oh and i just tore it down and found that one of my exhaust valves is leaking. Should I be worried or will it last for a couple months?

Never heard of having to do anything like that with any bike. I’ve had cams so big I had to shave the rockers but never hardened. Are these motors that damn sorry?

Well I ended it putting it back together with what I had and it’s going strong (knock on wood). It has ruffly 4 hours on the new build it’s only getting faster and faster as it breaks in. We do a lot of wide open highway riding too so she got put threw the ringer this past weekend. StIll have yet to get the tune dialed in on it though. All my friends have raptors and I can’t really mess with them threw the gears but I’ll pass them up every time even with the ole lady on the back on top side. I’m done messing with it for now though. When it gets cold I’ll prob pull the head and go with bigger valves and a full port and polish along with a bigger throttle body. Ima leave the bottom end alone as much as possible. The only prob I’m having and it did this once before I tore into it, sometimes when I’m in fifth gear it’ll bog out bad until I let out the gas and go back in to it. It also did it while we were messing around in an open field as soon as I hit fifth it fell flat on its face. I mean it didn’t even pull at all and we never let out the gas when we shift not unless we’re cruising.
