Best exhaust for torque
I was wondering what everyone thought to be the best exhaust for hard hitting, bottom end torque? I previously had a 400ex where I thought the low end was 2nd to none with a HMF sport series slip-on. It's safe to say I'm not so concerned with the peak number as much I am concerned with how the curve is. Ideally it would hit low and gain up until 5,000 rpm or so. I don't like to rev my machine out too much. What I love is being able to pull hard on long steep hills by "loading" up the engine (almost lugging) and coming out of corners really hard. With my positive experience from HMF, I contacted them about the 700xx requesting the following:
"I looked in the forum and only found the 700xx before and after HP. I'm interested in seeing the dyno graph for torque across rpm (showing stock vs. competition series). If nothing else do you have before and after numbers? Although this would be beneficial I'd like to see how hard it hits. Would you recommend the slip-on or full for better torque? I'm just looking for more bottom end. "
HMF's reply was:
"I have no dyno charts for a 700XX with the Competition Series. We did the bulk of our Competition series testing with a YFZ450 and an Outlaw 525. On both machines we gained about 1 HP and 1 lb/ft of torque over the Performance series. The full system on the 700XX really shines from 5500 RPM up to the rev limiter. If you are strictly looking for more bottom You will be very happy with the Competition slip on."
I'm reluctant to purchase knowing they don't have a dyno chart, but I'm sure I wouldn't be disappointed. What are everyone's thoughts? Any recommendations with dyno charts?
