sproket too big?

i do have 24s witch i kno doesnt help but i was racing yesterday, the suzuki 450 and trx 450r jumped the start as i passed the suzuki i then realized i still had 5th gear, lol and i started catching the 450r but ran out of space, so it seems like i cant get this thing to top out, i did go one thooth smaller than stock on the front.

Some guys with big tyres on the rear run a 12t front sprocket.

I was down to the 12t with 24s, 13t at the minimum is a must with tires those size. With that big of tire it is like you are using a 15t instead of the 14t. And unless your motor is built you are never going to top it out with 24s and a 14t
