somebody tell me about our motors?

i've always had utility quads but my wife wanted a sport one but we ride a lot of trails so i got the xx and we both love it.. i was just curious about the motors in our bikes. i don't believe it but somebody tried to tell me the other day that the 700xx just had a bored out 450r motor. so what can our motors handle, is there any major problems anyone has had with theirs? we don't ride it hard but i just put the ehs lid kit and programmer on it and will put exhaust on when i get more money. anything i should be careful of?

thanks for input in advance

It's not a bored out 450r motor. If it resembles another motor. It would be the xr650r. These motors are awesome and have dominated baja races much like the xr650r did.

Its in the same engine family as the XR650R engine.

It may resemble the XR650R, but it's a 686cc...A 450 motor would never be able to handle the weight of our bike design unless you wanted to tun it into a lawnmower...

You change the oil and filters regularly, it's a great motor and will serve you well.
As for what motors it was built from !!!!!!!!!!!!! It's actually based on 3 Honda engines.

2008 TT-ReXX , 2003 400ex and 2014 CRF250r.

i dont think its just like anything really its like a 700xx, the port shape is closer to a 450r but the drive line is closer to the xr 650. The 450r has a overhead intake cam and rocker exhaust where the 650/700 is both rocker off a single cam. the clutch is pretty similar to a 450 if you compare things to other things you could say this thing is like a yamaha but it isnt really its like a honda 700 xx

Exactly! The motor was built specifically for the xx. You can see parts that look similar to other motors, but it not just a bored over anything.

it has some weak points, the cylinder skirts are a little too short and lets the piston walk a little, the oiling system for the wrist pin isnt the greatest and can cause wristpin failures.there is a problem with the clutch basket bearing getting slack and causing noise.the screen in the oil tank can clogg with sludge, assembly lube or anything else slightly thicker than oil and run the top end dry.i reccommend removing it.keep it well maintained and it should be fine.

sorry to be the only one to post up any problems.
