Air box

I bought a 700xx, the guy decides to cut the top of the air box open for more air to pass through, when revving the gas it boggs out a little bit. I was wondering if this is due to too much air coming through and was wondering if i should get another lid ? Its all stock. Much help would be appreciated!

That wont cause the bog problem. I would cover and seal the hole, or put Outerwear over it. To much dirt will get in and require premature filter cleaning.

What air filter are you using? Has it been cleaned recently? Removing the lid or opening it up should make it run better not worse.
