better 5th gear?

My 5th gear is kinda slugish when im drag racing.so when people do pass me up its in 5th gear.what can i do to fix this? I just want my 5th gear to pull hard like 4th.maybe i have to much paddle? 22 11 10 8 paddle haulers maybe a 7 paddle would help?? Or 15t sproket? Or maybe a 13t sproket idk? Any help would be great.

A 13t sprocket will give you lower gearing in ALL gears, you'll be able to pull harder in 5th, but you'll also be going slower. A 15t will give you higher gearing in ALL gears. You'll be going faster in 5th, but you won't be pulling hard.
The only way to really improve pulling in 5th gear without being slower would be to improve power.

more power, I thought I read that a cam and 11 to 1 piston will give you 2 or 3 more horse.

I have no problem with my 700xx , no raptor 700r will pass me nider on a long ran or drag race but this is what i got; power comander, full exhaust,k&n filter,and thats all you need.

thats what I would try, higher geared front sprocket but stay in lower gears longer. It should change the speeds your bike makes it's power at. For less than 20 bucks its worth a try.


I ran a 13t at some informal Glamis sand drags and found it was a little too low. I could keep up but it was hard to keep the front end down on starts even in 2nd. I wish I would have had my stock 14 on for the sand, next time I will.
