very hot quad

I want to know if is normal that my quad trx700xx mod 2008 is very hot when I go to do a short ride ??? . The fan is sleeping during the ride but I made a test: I disconnected the thermostat and the fan is functioning correctly.
thanks..

If the fan is "sleeping" as in not comming on then what makes you think it is running very hot ?

Actually that's probably heat radiating out from the exhaust header... which is kinda normal. You'll get more of this at lower speeds (1st & 2nd gear). Quads run hotter if you run lean. 2 suggestions... 1. Check plug to see if you're running lean. 2. Make sure your radiator fins are clear of mud and other crap that can block air flow.

the slower you ride the hotter it will get. 3third gear cruise will cool it sufficiently, if you ride like grandma it will run hot or potentially over heat!

Come to think about it, both of these problems should cause your fan to run more, not less. Our quad water temps should be between 176 - 203 F. I know that on other quads, their fan seems to be running all the time... not our quad. Our quad seems to have a better/larger cooling system.
