cv joint boot on the axel came off. please help

the cv joint cover, or boot cover, came off of the axel on the right side of my 700xx today. it was the first time riding it and we just bought it yesterday. does anybody know how to get this back on? is the a special tool or anything that i would need? it was very greasy and wouldnt slide back into place.

If you bought this from a dealer, take it back to them they should cover it.

its not hard to fix, but as long as its under warranty let them do it. you would have to go to the dealership anyway to get the clamp. I keep a spare inner and outer kit on my trailer so that a weekend ride doesnt get ruined. the whole kit is around 40.00. The outer boot is real easy, it can be done without removing the shaft. The inner boot requires removal. If you do choose to do it yourself, make sure the CV joint is clean (roll back the boot) regrease it and make sure the contact surfaces of the boot and joint are as grease free as you can make them, roll the boot back down and reclamp.
