Honda recommends 5.1lbs. front 6.2lbs. rear. I run pretty close to the Honda recommendations, 5.5 front 6.5 rear. I have herd people running higher pressure to avoid sidewall cuts when running around sharp rocks. I've never cut a tire yet, but my Son did over the 4th of July weekend. He was riding my original blk trx700xx with 3 1/2 yr old tires on it. 12psi seams like it would ride like a brick. The tire is supposed to absorb some of the impact of the terrain, weather it be from jumping or just ruts and bumps. Also lower pressure helps with traction, which it sounds like you all ready know.
