Weight in Bars

Just recently I replaced the handlebar grips, and part of the replacement requires you to remove the end piece and weight. I prefer shorter grips and the ones I installed do not allow the end cap to be reinstalled. So my question is why was a weight installed at each end of the bars, and does it help or hurt to leave it out? Or does it matter at all in the performance? Thanks

i think what your talking about is the end cap to hold the OEM grips on, this has nothing to do with performance it just makes sure your grips dont fall off, in order to take them off you just need a Philips head screw driver.

Yep... But a better solution to bar vibration would be the Precision shock and vibe bar clamp... Tried it on my friend's quad and loved it... My next mod (with ODI rogue lock on grips)

Could someone explain better or show pictures of these weights? I just put new protaper grips on. I used a Phillips screwdriver on each side to remove the end cap off the bars and then took the old grips off and glued the new ones on. There was some stuff inside the bar that I just left, I thought it was just for the end cap to have something to scew into.

they are not weights they are caps like you said they are worthless unless you dont want no dirt to get in the end of your bar,i think handguards come with there own end caps also

look up a parts diagram, you will see the end caps screw into the bar weights. Sounds like you all ready seen them. Parts 8-9-10-11 in handle bar diagram. Part 8 is the weight...
