Elka Stage 4's

Where's the best place to purchase? Most places have the fronts listed at $1495.00 w/o guards. Do we have a site sponsor that carries these? Looking at just fronts for now, maybe next year rear's or have mine re-done?

Well so far the best price I've found was $1345.00 plus $70 more for guards. So that's $1415.00 zero tax and free delivery. If no site sponsor sells these I'm going to order them soon!

M_Quick,
Might I suggest calling Elka in Canada at (450)655-4855? They are really helpful people. I talked to them earlier this year and asked about the shocks for the TRX700XX. I have them already but for purposes of this forum I asked if they were still manufactured for our machines. They still make them and I am sure they will give you the names, locations and telephone numbers of their distributors. I am also sure you can even buy them from their factory in Canada. I bought my shock covers directly from them. Just a thought.
Good luck on your quest.
Sid

Did you buy covers or the shock protectors? If covers can you post a picture? http://www.elkasuspension.com/produc...ck-protectors/

DO NOT BUY FROM ELKA!!!! I rode on shocks built by Elka in Canada for 4 years... Then sent them out to Bob Bell, the man that built Wayne Matlocks shocks for a rebuild and valve change because I was not happy how they were performing anymore because of the experience over those 4 years I was beginning to outride them.

I could cry if I thought about it too long, all those 4 years wasted riding on mediocre performing shocks before I put them in Mr. Bells hands.

M_Quick,
Yes those are the shock protectors that I bought. I am pleased with them. My Elkas are 5 years old and just as good as when I bought them. I must admit, I am not an aggressive rider and do not beat my machine. I do ride on sand and rocky mountain types of desert terrain.

Blak92,

So where would you suggest buying from? Precision looks like they just tune the suspension. I talked to a guy at iShock that said he worked on Matlocks shocks too? So far they have the best price, still a lot of money so I'd hope they would turn out sweet! What did it cost you on the rebuild? Cause I'm debating buying new rears or having them rebuilt, next year. iShock said around $500.00 for re-spring, re-valve, new oil, seals, & bushings. I think that's all he said?

Sid,

Great to hear for the money the shocks are holding up that long! What type if any service do you have to do to them? As far as riding style, I don't race but do ride semi aggressive at least for a older guy. I'm still going the call Elka in Canada on Monday, to see if they can beat iShocks price.

M_Quick,
With the amount of hours I have on the XX, I have done NO maintenance on the Elkas. No sign of leaking and no change in performance. There may be some of those issues for those who ride hard and like a little air now and then. I realize that it is cooler at about 10 to 20 feet off the deck. LOL.
Let us know what you decide to do.
