rappey I used to use heated grips but many fail either through water ingress or just wear out. I also didnt like that the grips themselves were so hard..
I now used handlebar muffs when cold.. No power needed, keep your hands dry and free from mud !

pswag115 Use the switch to signal a relay, then power the relay from the bat.

mumbauer Do you know how much current they draw? I've run things from the ignition key wiring before, but it was only for lower draw and/or very short term draw, so I didn't worry too much about it. I can't find it now, but you might be able to find a chart or calculator for wire gauge and 12v ampacity.

Snoshoe I had thought about the ig sw too. but is it or the wires rated for the extra amp pull?
I have a similar set on my victory. My gloves have a quick disconnect I just connected to the battery when I need it. It connects at the top of the seat, not much jumping around so it works. The disconnect for my heated shield on my snowmobile is on the throttle side of the bars the cable then runs up my sleeve. havent had mobility issues yet.

M_Quick Okay, I had no idea they alrdy had a built in thermometer and kill switch. I guess it wouldn't make since without it. And idk about electric at all, but was wondering about the ignition switch?

Champ3836 Not true. My grips have a fancy digital controller with on off and five settings for both grips and thumb. So it is best to hook them up to switched power. For now I ran wires to the battery. Guess we don't have electrical gurus here.

M_Quick Why not just install a switch? Has to be a point during a ride when hands need or don't need heat. And if just wired hot with key, you'd have no options.

Switched Power For Heated Handgrips

Does anyone know any easily accessible wires behind the headlights that provide switched power and ground? I am wanting to hook up my heated handgrips. Headlight is not the switched power I'm looking for. I want power when the key is on and none when it's off.

Thanks,
