delinquent43 do NOT plead no contest that is the same as a guilty plea at least here in california. plead not guilty go back and ask for radar calibration as stated before and a reciept for the fix of your speedometer those will help but still not guaranteed.

Look at total cost, If you get a citation that's $100 and an attorney is $300 you have to factor in the fact that your insurance rates will go up so is 3 years of insurance premiums offsetting the $200 difference.. I would say yes.
Not to mention the fact that if driving is required for your job, having a citation on your record could be a problem.

Xstriker on a side note, my oldest brother is a state trooper here in UT and has been for 20+ years, excuses during the traffic stop don't work. there is no law that states they have to show you the laser/radar device (calibration must be documented though). as for too big of tires? it's your fault for not having your speedo recalibrated so it's still your ticket. anyways excuses don't work just take the ticket, don't say much then call a lawyer to have it dropped to a seatbelt/non-moving violation or dismissed by the city/district attourney. just my 2 cents.

trx700 Ask for a free court appointed lawyer. But I don't think you need a lawyer.

I guess I really don't know how much speeding tickets are in other states. It is only $75 in IL, if it was significantly more than that would have to re-evaluate.
It depends on the situation, but I would generally hire an attorney since it would cost about the same as losing a days pay by having to personally appear.

That almost happened to me here in Alabama. They were at the wrong spot but about one street over and heard us racing. I had one of those gut feelings after the second race(he beat me the first time/I beat him the second time) and left before the 2 out of 3 was finished and glad I did. We meet em comin in while we were leaving.
