I can't comment on the big 3 as mine is still stock motor wise. But I know when a large group of us went up to Disney there was a raptor in the group with 3 700xx's and his raptor is set up for dirt road racing. Big cam, exhaust, programmer, big bore kit etc...
He could hang with us most of the time but he was getting aggrevated when we would romp on it coming out of turns in the damp dirt and take off where he would slide and almost spin out. He got hung up in some ruts because his rear diff drug where we didn't think about dragging. And after riding throuh the rocks in the river bed for a little he was dying to get back on the smooth dirt while we were still floating around on our clouds instead of being pummeled to death.
The 700XX has it's market and for those people it is one of the best ATV's out there. It does what it's designed to do very well.
Comparing a 700xx to a raptor on the dunes is like comparing a Civic to a Kenworth on pulling 30klbs.
Things do what they were designed to do.

|Red-N-BlackXX||I don't mind mine weighing 500lbs. It feels roomy. Here in the mountains where I ride. The XX is perfect! Lots of torque to climb hills. And enough ground clearance to ride even the rough stuff. I don't want a utility quad or 4wd. The big 3 and better shocks made this bike awesome.|

I feel most of the people that knock the 700XX have never ridden one, or if they have ridden one, they rode it like they would a SRA quad. Need to ride it a few times to really get used to it and know what it will do. I will admit in stock form, the 700XX is pretty unimpresive. Just the big three made mine much more enjoyable to ride. The stock front shocks really are horrible also, can't wait to try it with full aftermarket suspension. I like mine so much I plan on buying another one here in the next month or so.

I do agree that a 4WD option would have been sweet.

Honda missed the boat big time...
not sure if they didnt want to compete head to head with Yamaha or not or if they miss read the market the OUTLAW IRS had (which didnt sell many unit) and wanted to compete with it for that market...
basically they thought nothing about the west coast....
on any holiday weekend at Glamis there will be 100,000 + people... up to 300,00 a few years back.... id say there may be a total of 20 irs quads in the whole place....
at the end of the day no one wants a 500 lb sport quad... (kawi 700, Honda 700)
i think the honda should have been in the same realm as the RENEGADE

|glock17tj||My 700xx is not stock, well it was when I brought it home. Rode it down the road a few times...then it was on !!! I got the big 3, 13t sprocket, 24in Bear Claws, Pro Armor nerf bars, Pro Armor Front bumper, Vapor trip computer, odi grips, Acerbis hand guards, Red Tusk Aluinum Gas cap, Spider Web neoprene shock covers, Red/Black Gripper seat...?? I can't think of the other stuff but mine is not stock anymore. I would race them but with me not having that much seat time on the 700xx they may beat me. I can't launch it without keeping the front down, plus I am 215lbs...So it might all even out...You know all the guys with the big utility quads think theirs is the fastest..I just sayin...haha..|

|240||You would race the can-am 800, my buddy has one and stock for stock I edged him out by about 5km/h. It gets me on the bottom end but not mid to top. With the big 3 It's no contest but not really fair to compare to a stock bike.|

I have never owned a sport quad, till the 700xx. I have have a 2004 Honda Foreman 450es. I have had all my buddies tell me buy a honda and you wnt be sorry. I started with the 450es and I have a 500es and the 700xx. Going from the 450es to the 700xx was night and day difference, talk about scared the shitless 1st time I rode it. I rode it down the road and then parked it got off and sat down for a few. I have never rode a quad the pulled that hard. I have ridden mainly utility quads so this was a real eye opener. Like everyone said you pull up in a group and they all want to know what the hell are you riding. Then you tell them and their eyes glass over...I want one is the first thing they say after they ride it. I had one guy tell me after he rode it..." I was just riding it easy and I looked down and saw I was going almost 60mph..WTF !!.." He said I have never gone that fast on my quad...hell it probably does not run 60mph anyway. He was amazed at how much power it had and how nice it rode. I guess I started something with the guys I ride with. I got a new 700xx, then they all went out and got new quads, they bought utility quads. I still think they are all scared to get a sport quad.
I have one guy who tries to keep up with me as far as upgrades, well he lost that one...The he went and bought a brute force, and I guess he thinks he can dust me. I am not that experienced on the 700 but I am sure I can out run him. He wanted a Can-am 800 so he could beat me I don't know if I could out run him on a Can-am but I will sure try if he gets one. I guess we will see come summer time if he can run with the BIG DOGS !! I got to get the 700 out and run it, and get some practice in..I wanted to sell the 700 becasue I am laid off and going to school but now I am going to keep it so I can waste this guy come summer time...HAHA...

|Rkangel||Honda does have reliability down. My 400ex has been through two previous owners and has who knows how many hundred hours on it, and still runs like a champ.|
