My quad has a engine knock, I don't plan on keeping it so don't want to tear it apart. How concerned should I be? Runs fine no issues.

Also, where does the knock originate. Like mentioned above is it a knock or tick...if it is a tick, could be crank?

If it is a tick, it could be a valve adjustment, a loose heat shield or a non-issue. That engine has many unusual sounds so don't panic yet.

It's a knock not a tick.. when you say rebuild, you mean splitting the engine or can I get away with just taking the cylinder off?

Ok a couple things 1- never had a problem with any Honda before, whats wrong with this motor?
2- some say some knocking is normal with these quads?
3- could I be getting detonation, programmer not working right?
4- seems to quiet down a bit when pulling clutch in?
5- not sure if the knocking is still there other than idle?

I also have a "knocking" noise from my clutch only when cold and it does go away when you pull the clutch lever in. It goes away for good once it warms up so I thought it was the oil viscosity bc it's like 15 degrees here

Mine doesn't go away but does quiet down a bit, with the muffler on mine it's hard to hear once I start to give it gas. She is a loud moaner lol..

Well my clutch does suck and needs a rebuild.

Mine was knocking/ticking whatever, had it rebuilt, still made same noise... come to find out it was the timing chain. Replaced that and its been a happy motor ever since.
